Medication Management Services
At Family Attachment & Counseling Center, medication management is one part of a comprehensive, whole-person approach to mental health care. Our psychiatric nurse practitioners provide thoughtful, individualized treatment grounded in evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and a deep respect for each client’s unique story.
We understand that medication can be an important tool for healing, but it is never the only one. Our clinicians look at the full picture of your well-being, including emotional health, lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, trauma history, attachment patterns, and family dynamics, to ensure that treatment supports the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.
Holistic & Root-Cause Oriented
We do not simply match symptoms to medications. We work to understand what’s driving your mental health concerns and collaborate with you to build a treatment plan that fits your goals, values, and daily life. Whenever helpful, we integrate therapy, lifestyle strategies, and supportive interventions alongside medication.
Collaborative & Person-Centered
Our providers take time to listen—to your concerns, symptoms, progress, and lived experience. We believe you are the expert on your own body and mind, and we strive to make every visit relational, supportive, and empowering.
Evidence-Based & Trauma-Informed
All treatment decisions are grounded in current research and delivered through a trauma-informed lens. Our goal is to ensure that medications (when used) promote stability, reduce symptoms, and enhance overall wellness without unnecessary side effects or overmedication.
Our Approach
Our psychiatric nurse practitioners provide medication management for:
Children & Adolescents
Adults of all ages
Individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, mood disorders, and other mental health concerns
When working with children and teens, we collaborate closely with caregivers and therapists to ensure treatment is safe, appropriate, and aligned with developmental needs.
Who We Serve
1. Comprehensive Initial Evaluation
Your first appointment includes a full review of your medical history, symptoms, past treatment experiences, lifestyle factors, and mental health goals. We take time to understand the whole person—not just the diagnosis.
2. Personalized Treatment Planning
If medication is recommended, we will explain the purpose, expected benefits, potential side effects, and alternatives. You will always be included in decision-making.
3. Ongoing Follow-Up & Support
We schedule regular check-ins to monitor progress, adjust medications when necessary, and support your healing. Collaboration with therapists, primary care providers, and families is encouraged when appropriate.
4. Integration With Therapy & Lifestyle Support
Medication is most effective when paired with supportive therapeutic work, healthy routines, and a nurturing environment. We help guide you through this integrated approach.

FAQs
-
While therapy is not necessarily required, we strongly encourage it. Research consistently shows that combining therapy with medication leads to better and more lasting outcomes. When appropriate, our providers collaborate closely with your therapist to ensure fully integrated care. You do not need to see a therapist here at Family Attachment Center to work with on of our nurse practitioners.
-
Medication should never make someone feel “numb” or unlike themselves. The goal is to reduce symptoms - such as anxiety, depression, irritability, or inattention - so you or your child can function more comfortably and naturally. If a medication ever feels like “too much,” we adjust it together.
-
We look at the full picture: symptoms, medical history, trauma history, development, sleep, nutrition, lifestyle, previous medication trials, and your own concerns and preferences. Our approach is careful, collaborative, and individualized, not a one-size-fits-all model.
-
Yes, if needed and appropriate. Our psychiatric nurse practitioners have extensive experience with pediatric medication management. We make decisions carefully, involve caregivers throughout the process, and prioritize the safest, least invasive options.
-
We believe medication is only one part of wellness. Our providers consider sleep, nutrition, stress, relationships, trauma, environment, attachment patterns, and lifestyle habits when developing a plan. Whenever helpful, we integrate non-medication strategies to support healing.
-
Absolutely, if you want them to be. Many clients appreciate a faith-informed approach to mental health. We never impose spiritual beliefs but are happy to incorporate Christian values or discuss faith-related concerns at your request.
-
Initial evaluations are typically longer and more comprehensive, ranging from 60-90 minutes. Follow-up visits are scheduled based on your needs, commonly every 4–8 weeks for stable clients, and more frequently when starting or adjusting medication. Follow up visits are typically 30 minutes long.
-
We support you. Our job is to help you make informed decisions,, not pressure you. We discuss all available options, including lifestyle changes, therapy approaches, and trauma-focused treatments, so you can choose what feels right.
-
We will work together to adjust the dose, explore alternatives, or change strategies entirely. Follow-up is key. You will never be “stuck” with a medication that doesn’t feel right for you.
-
Yes, collaboration is one of our strengths. With your permission, we regularly connect with therapists, primary care providers, or schools to ensure coordinated, supportive care.
