Group Therapy Services

At Family Attachment & Counseling Center, group therapy provides a powerful way to learn, heal, and grow in community. In a safe, structured setting, clients can practice new skills, receive encouragement, and realize they are not alone in their struggles.

Our groups are led by experienced therapists who integrate evidence-based approaches—such as CBT, DBT, and attachment-focused work—with practical tools for daily life. Some groups are designed for children and teens; others are tailored specifically for adult women and may include a Christian perspective for those who desire it.

Social Skills Group for Children & Adolescents

Our Social Skills Group is designed for children ages 6–14 who need support navigating friendships, emotions, and everyday social situations. This experiential program helps kids and teens:

  • Build healthier communication skills

  • Learn CBT-based regulation and coping strategies

  • Practice gratitude and positive thinking

  • Develop confidence in group settings

Topics rotate with each session, but all groups emphasize emotional regulation, problem-solving, and connection—under the guidance of skilled staff.

What a Typical Group Evening Looks Like

While schedules may vary by session, a typical group night includes:

  • Check-In & Goal Setting
Time to settle in, share highs and lows, and set group and individual goals.

  • Physical / Group Recreation
Movement-based activities outdoors (weather permitting) or in-clinic, often incorporating elements of neurological reorganization or SMART activities to support regulation and focus.

  • Teaching & Skill Practice
Staff introduce new material through teaching, storytelling, role play, games, or experiential learning.

  • Creative Activity
Crafts or projects that reinforce the evening’s theme in a hands-on way.

  • Wrap-Up & Review
Brief review of what was learned, reflection on goals, and preparation for the week ahead.

Entrance into the social skills group can often occur on a rolling basis, depending on space and group structure.
